Dr. Skrepnik is the Director of Research at Tucson Orthopaedic Research Center (TORC). He has extensive experience in Basic and Clinical Research. Dr Skrepnik obtained his M.D. degree from University of Belgrade Medical School in Belgrade, 1984. He worked at LSU Health Science Center Departments of Physiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center, New Orleans, LA (1988-1996). During that time, he has produced twenty-five scientific publications in journals such as American Journal of Physiology, Clinical Cancer Research, Cancer, The Journal of Urology, European Journal of Cancer, Cancer Research, Academic Radiology, Journal of Leukocyte Biology, Hepatology, Shock, and others. He finished his four-year combined Residency program in Internal Medicine and Clinical Research at LSU-Medical School in New Orleans (1996-2000) with support from Stanley S. Scott Cancer center, New Orleans, LA. He received his Masters Degree in 2004 from the University of Belgrade School of Medicine, Belgrade, Yugoslavia, based on his work done at LSU Medical School. His thesis was entitled "Propylthiouracil-induced Hypothyroidism Reduces Xenograft Tumor Growth in Athymic Nude Mice." He defended his Ph.D. thesis at the University of Belgrade Medical School in 2007. All data presented in his Ph.D. thesis were collected at LSU Medical school and published with support from Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center. Title of the thesis was: "The Effects of Anti-erbB-2 (Her-2/neu) Recombinant Oncotoxin AR209 on Human Non-Small Cell Lung Carcinoma Grown Orthotopically in Athymic Nude Mice and Human Prostate Carcinoma Xenografts.” Mentors: Dr. Jay Hunt, Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at LSU-Health Science Center, New Orleans, LA., and Milica Prostran, M.D., Ph.D., Chairmen of Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Medical School Belgrade. |
