Spine Surgeons Stephen E. Hanks, M.D. and Steven C. Zeiller, M.D. Join Tucson Orthopaedic Institute – Northwest and Oro Valley

Stephen E. Hanks, M.D. and Steven C. Zeiller, M.D., fellowship-trained spine surgeons, have joined the medical team at Tucson Orthopaedic Institute’s northwest Tucson and Oro Valley offices.

Dr. Hanks and Dr. Zeiller are experienced in all aspects of neck and spine surgery, including disease, deformity, tumor, trauma and degenerative conditions of the neck and spine. Conditions commonly seen include herniated disks, osteoporosis, spinal stenosis, neck and spine fractures, scoliosis and spinal tumors.

Stephen E. Hanks, M.D., completed medical school and his orthopaedic surgery residency at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed a fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Hanks has worked in Tucson for the past two years as an Associate Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. In 2003, the Cervical Spine Research Society recognized his contributions to cervical spine research by honoring him with the William J. Fielding Award.

Steven C. Zeiller, M.D., earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at Louisiana State University, New Orleans, LA., where he graduated with honors, was named to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and was the recipient of the Outstanding Student in Neurosciences Award. He then accepted an internship in general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, where he also completed his orthopaedic surgery residency and fellowship in spine surgery.
