Articular Cartilage Problems - Drilling / Microfracture

When overuse and/or injury causes articular cartilage to break down, leading to pain and swelling, a Tucson Orthopaedic Institute Total Joint surgeon can remove the damaged cartilage using a technique called Drilling/Microfracture. For this technique, the surgeon makes small holes in the exposed bone, which helps heal the damaged area. Watch the video to learn more about this method.
